I home this weekend to mount
my new generator that they sent me to replace the first one. it had
died thanks to a bearing that had seized trashing the whole unit. This
time I'm going to take the time to prep it right so it can travel in
all kinds of weather. It will be nice to have the genset back on my
truck. It will save me around $500.00 a month. if I can find the
charger to my camcorder I'll take pictures of what I'm doing so you
have an ideas of what I'm doing.
Thanks to our illustrious
legislature day light saving started early this year. It will be
interesting how this will effect everything. Tomorrow companies all
over the country will find computers that where forgotten about or is
running a operating system that is old and hard to update. The
concerns right now are for the banking and transportation systems. I
just wish they would do away with daylight saving all together. I
think it is a royal pain in the butt.
I recently
visited a port in Staten Island, NY and it was even more of a pain than
daylight savings. This port was a pain for someone that has experience
with ports let alone someone that is new to containers. In all the
ports that I have been in once you check in you go to the different
areas of the port and there is someone there to keep things in order.
In this port you get to do all that yourself. I had to get with the
reefer dept and arrange to had a genset mounted to the container. Then
I had to find a yard dog to hook up to the can and bring it to where it
could be transfered to my chassis. What should have taken only an hour
took four. Now that I know what to expect from that port it will be
easier next t
